NEWS RELEASE Canadian Judeo-Christian Flag Committee, Culture Guard FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUGUST 28, 2018 Langley City asked to fly Judeo-Christian flag Langley, BC, August 18, 2018 (CJCFC) — The City of Langley has been asked to fly the Canadian Judeo-Christian Flag on its Courtesy Flag Pole from the National Day of Blessings, October 1 to Thanksgiving, October 8, 2018. The request was made today by Langley resident Kari Simpson, the National Day of Blessings Coördinator for the CJCFC, in a letter to Langley City Mayor Ted Schaffer. In a backgrounder to the request, Simpson noted that the City of Langley’s official flag-raising policy specifically excludes political or religious organizations—but that a special exemption was made by Council for the Pride Committee—a political organization. Accordingly, the Pride ‘rainbow’ flag was raised this year. Noting that both federal and provincial legislation prohibit discriminating against any identifiable group, Simpson has expressed the hope that Langley City will not provide privilege for one group and then discriminate against Judeo-Christian citizens. “The legal ramifications of discriminating against Judeo-Christians and other protected groups would be terrible,” Simpson said. “Clearly there are numerous groups wanting their flags to be flown in a like manner to the Pride flag and their representative colours added to crosswalks, like the Pride colours have been. Langley City and other municipal governments have definitively determined not to remain neutral on accommodating one identifiable group, and now must accommodate all others.” “It would certainly be much better for the City not to discriminate at all. We also hope that Mayor Schaffer or his designate will be able to attend the raising of the Canadian Judeo-Christian flag October 1.” Contact: Kari Simpson, (604) 514-1614 Media:Request a pdf of the Canadian Judeo-Christian flag via email – CultureGuard@gmail.com Kari Simpson letter of July 26, 2018 asking Langley City to reconsider the raising of the political Pride flag |

I also feel as a Christian that we should have our own crosswalks . I live in the heart of the Bible Belt as they call it and I’m not asking to do this in competition to any other group or organization but to reach out to the lost . We have some extremely high numbers of overdoses and homeless that I thought this might be a way we could reach them . It would also be a way of saying we are Christian and we are not ashamed and not going to hide our faith. A way to show our pride of our savour and for what he has done for us and how we can reach out to help those that need our help just as Jesus asked us to do
Leslie, that is a great idea. Canadians need to know that the One who our charter recognizes as supreme is the God who made us and loves us.
I totally support this! If one religious or political group is honored, all should have the right to feel safe, celebrated and included! #loveandinclusivityforall
I completely agree not to discriminate and do the same for all groups. Playing favorite to the pride group is favoritism. This should not be tolerated by politicians.
Re, the idea of rainbow cross walks. I always thought it was ironic and sad that the rainbow symbol, which is also a Christian symbol of Peace was being painted on a crosswalk, to be treaded upon.
Good for Keri Simpson. I thank you for your work and for this request that you have expressed so well. May God bless you and grant your request.
If one group gets special recognition, certainly the innocuous, loving, long standing Canadian all the way Christian community should have its flag flown as well!
